Brač to Hvar and beyond by ferry

Brač and Hvar are linked by passenger catamarans only: Bol to Jelsa, Bol to Hvar town in late summer, and Milna to Hvar town with TP Line. There is no car ferry between the two islands.

Updated:

Island hopping from Brač works well on foot and badly with a car. The links start in Bol or Milna and depend heavily on the season. Here is what exists, with the 2026 times as a guide for 2027.

Bol to Jelsa

Jelsa is the nearest harbour on Hvar and not the same as Hvar town. Jadrolinija’s year-round catamaran 9603 serves it in the evening: it leaves Split at 16:30, calls at Bol around 17:40 and reaches Jelsa at 18:00 (18:05 in summer). That is a crossing of roughly 20 minutes. The fare for Bol–Jelsa is €4.20 off-season and €7.70 from 29 May to 27 September.

The way back leaves early: Jelsa at 06:00 on weekdays, 07:00 on Saturdays and 13:00 on Sundays out of season, and at 06:00 every day in summer, calling at Bol some 20 minutes later. It is a commuter timetable, so plan around it rather than hoping for a mid-day boat.

Source: official Jadrolinija timetable 9603 (PDF), checked Fri 6 Nov 2026. Times can change at short notice. The 2027 timetable has not been published yet. Until then the 2026 times are the best guide – they rarely change much from year to year.

In the Krilo Shipping season (15 May to 30 September) the Split–Bol–Jelsa day boat also carries local passengers, for €10.00 from Bol to Jelsa. In peak weeks it reaches Jelsa at 13:55, and the return leaves Jelsa at 17:30. See Split to Bol for the full picture.

Bol to Hvar town

The boat we can document on the operator’s own site is Jadrolinija 659, which runs between 17 August and 20 September 2026: Split 15:30, Bol 16:30, Hvar 17:30, then on to Vis. Bol to Hvar costs €25.00. Coming back from Hvar, the same boat passes Bol at 12:10 on its way to Split. Outside those five weeks, Direct Ferries lists a Bol–Hvar catamaran as well, but we could not match it to a published operator timetable. Search your date and look at what is actually offered.

Milna to Hvar town

From the west coast TP Line is the option. Its Split–Milna–Hvar–Korčula–Dubrovnik catamarans left Milna for Hvar at about 09:30 and 15:45 in 2026, reaching Hvar town in roughly 45 minutes. Milna–Hvar cost €16.50, reduced to €15.00 from 10 September 2026. Children pay half. Tickets are sold at the quay in Milna only if seats are left, so book in July and August. Details of the Milna end are on the Split to Milna page.

Rules that apply on all of them

The Jadrolinija catamarans allow 20 kg of luggage per passenger and no bicycles. Line 9603 is a reservation line: be at the quay 30 minutes ahead in winter, 60 in summer. Jelsa is a village on Hvar, and Hvar town is further along the island; a bus or taxi connects them, but we have no verified timetable for it. TP Line’s captain decides just before departure whether a sailing goes in bad weather, and a cancelled TP Line sailing is refunded in full.

Korčula and Dubrovnik

Direct Ferries lists Bol–Korčula and Bol–Dubrovnik. The only Krilo sailings we can confirm in the operator’s own 2026 data start in Milna: Milna–Korčula €25.00 and Milna–Dubrovnik €50.00. For Bol itself, treat the listing as unconfirmed until the search shows a date you can actually book.

With a car, hopping means a detour. Take the car ferry back to the mainland (Supetar–Split or Sumartin–Makarska) and cross to Hvar from there, for example Drvenik–Sućuraj on the Makarska side. Those lines are Jadrolinija’s and are not on this site. Catamarans carry no vehicles, and Jadrolinija’s do not take bicycles either.
