Split to Milna by catamaran

Milna sits in a sheltered bay on the west coast of Brač. A state-line catamaran serves it all year from €5.00, and in summer a faster TP Line boat makes the crossing in 30 to 35 minutes.

Milna is the quiet way onto Brač: no car queue, a harbour that sailors head for, and a ferry quay close to the village centre. Foot passengers have two boats to choose from, and they could hardly differ more. One is slow, cheap and runs all year; the other is quick, a little dearer and summer only.

All year: Krilo Shipping line 9601 via Rogač

Krilo Shipping Company (KSC) runs the state line 9601 Milna–Rogač–Split every day of the year. The boat calls at Rogač on Šolta on the way, so the trip takes about an hour. A single costs €5.00 from the end of September to the end of May and €7.70 from 29 May to 27 September.

The catch is the timetable: only a handful of sailings a day, and not every one goes all the way.

Source: Krilo Shipping Company, line 9601 timetable 2026 (ksc.hr), checked Fri 6 Nov 2026. In the weeks between (29 May–2 Jul and 31 Aug–27 Sep) the weekday sailings follow the off-season pattern. The 2027 timetable is not published yet.

On weekdays out of season there is also a 14:30 from Split, but it ends at Rogač and does not go on to Milna. Take the 18:30. The practical use is a one-way transfer to a Milna apartment on a weekday evening, or the 06:25 back to Split. Children aged 3–12 pay €3.20, a pet in a box half the adult fare, and the luggage allowance is 20 kg.

Summer: TP Line in 30 to 35 minutes

TP Line’s catamaran from Split to Milna carries on to Hvar, Korčula and Dubrovnik, so it doubles as an island-hopping boat. In 2026 it left Split at 09:00 and 15:10 and left Milna for Split at 12:50 and 19:25. The fare was €11.00 until 9 September and €10.00 afterwards; children aged 3–12 pay half.

Direct Ferries already shows these same times at €11.00 for July 2027. That is the 2026 pattern carried forward in the booking system, not an official 2027 timetable, so treat it as a strong hint rather than a promise. TP Line does not take reservations and carries no vehicles or bicycles. A pet in a carrier pays half the ticket. In July and August buy online in advance; tickets sold on board in Milna depend on what is left.

Krilo’s Split–Hvar–Korčula–Dubrovnik boat also stopped in Milna in 2026 (out of Split at 08:00 for €10.00, daily from April to October). Its 2027 schedule is not published.

And Sutivan?

Sutivan is a small harbour village on the north coast, near Supetar. KSC runs a seasonal catamaran there between 29 May and 27 September 2026, taking about 25 minutes for €7.50. It leaves Split at 10:00 from Monday to Saturday, with a second sailing later in the day. The boat docks at the end of the northern pier, a few metres from the promenade.

Tickets, luggage and bad weather

KSC sells mobile QR tickets and asks you to be at the quay 15 to 20 minutes before departure, 30 minutes in peak season. One suitcase up to 20 kg and a backpack are free. TP Line also allows 20 kg and asks for 15 minutes. If a sailing is cancelled in bad weather, KSC refunds the fare or rebooks you, and TP Line refunds it in full; a TP Line ticket you cancel yourself returns 90 % if you ask at least six hours ahead.

Choosing Milna

Milna is a good base if you want the west coast and a harbour town without the Bol crowds, or if you plan to hop on to Hvar: from Milna the same TP Line boat reaches Hvar town, see Brač to Hvar. For Bol and Zlatni Rat, the catamaran Split–Bol lands in the village itself, and the car ferry to Supetar is the alternative with a car. We have no verified distance or bus timetable between Milna and Bol.
